A series of walks starting from Tinahely, Co. Wicklow - more holidays will follow.
The village nestles amidst the rolling
hills of south Wicklow in the scenic
valley of the Derry River, close to
the borders with counties Carlow
and Wexford. Wicklow county is known as the Garden of Ireland, boasting
some of the most spectacular landscapes and vistas on the island, as well as a
host of activities for visitors. Walking is especially varied throughout the Tinahely
area. The village is an ideal walking base and it is credited by Failte Ireland
with the Walkers Welcome Charter due to the emphasis placed on walking.

Some of the Walks
The Wicklow Way is one of the most spectacular walks that
Ireland boasts. It embraces Tinahely and the complete
Wicklow Way starts in Dublin and extends as far as Carlow.
Tomnafinnoge Woods is almost equal distance between
the villages of Tinahely and Shillelagh offers three different
walks of varying distance. Most popular is the River Walk of
2km (4km both ways). Shorter walks are the Oak Walk,
3.2km, and the Hazel walk, only 1.3km. Both of these
walks go around in a loop.
Tinahely Railway Walk traverses a section of the
Woodenbridge to Shillelagh Railway Line which was
closed in 1964 and along a section of the track from
Kilcommon to Greenhall Bridge. This peaceful linear
woodland trail can be enjoyed by all the family. Two
magnificent stone railway bridges mark the start and
finish points.
Tinahely Town Walk is leisurely, commencing and
finishing at the centre of Tinahely village looping
up to St Kevin church at the highest point.
There are many other walks and maps and full
details are available.
