Ireland’s Midland and East Coast counties have been the cradle of Irish
aristocracy and together are the heartbeat of this fine country. From the
very rural border counties with their Drumlins (small hills) and a myriad of
vast lakes, the farmland becomes richer towards the south and is a land
steeped in history.
The exciting fusion of Celtic and Christian cultures is displayed by such fine
historical sites like Clonmacnoise and the High Crosses at Monasterboice.
Activities abound with delightful walks embracing Wicklow’s sandy coastline
and mountains, horse riding to suit every ability and age group, cruising on
the Shannon-Erne Waterway, affordable golf on splendid courses and a
chance to cast a line and catch a fish without the need
for a licence! (Coarse fishing).
